Musings on astrology and adoption

Adoption and Astrology
 by Marva Boehm Mason

I am currently collecting information and doing research on Astrology & Adoption. As an adoptee myself, Astrology brought me a great deal of comfort the more I delved into my astrology chart, the charts of my adoptive family and wondering what the charts of my biological family might be like.
I came across a book by Liz Greene back in the 1980's called "The Astrology of Fate” and realized that the Moon in astrology describes my mother, regardless of who my mother was or who raised me. The Moon must resonate with my nurturing experience.

I started finding other people in my life who were part of their own adoption triad - either an adoptee, a birth mom and an adopted mom, as well as birth/adopted siblings.

Back in the late 80's or early 90's, I happened to see a TV movie about the two babies switched at birth from Florida - Kimberly Mays and Arlene Twigg. At the end of the movie, I saw that they were born on the same day, which peaked my interest. I started looking for
everything I could find of that case, and found that they were not born on the same day. One was born on Nov 28 and the other on Dec 2, giving Arlena a Sagittarius moon and Kimberly a Capricorn moon. Arlena died in childhood of a heart condition and never knew she went home with the wrong parents. Her heart condition and ultimate death opened up an ongoing saga for Kimberly Mays, the Mays family and the Twiggs.

My research in the astrology of the triad charts has continued. In the early 1990's, I presented a talk for an astrology group in Houston, Texas, about the charts I had collected to date, including the Kimberly Mays/Arlene Twigs situation. The group attracted many from the adoption triad family and others with an interest in adoption.

My research continues to show how the adoptee must fit astrologically and psychologically into the family makeup of both the family who raises them and the family they are relinquished from. I have found that the personal planets, in particular, will match up with the personal planets and ascendant with the family in which the adoptee is raised, i.e., similar moons, suns, ascendants and Saturn -- the parenting planet. Also, the planets of Uranus, Neptune and/or Pluto will be found in the 4th house of in combination with the sun and/or moon.

In my own case, I have found my biological family, even though my biological parents were both deceased by the time I found their families. The reunion has been wonderful and I am one of the fortunate ones to make this kind of connection.

If you are an adoptee, biological mother/father, or adopted mother/father, or a biological sibling, I would very much like to include you in my ongoing research.
